Inscription of Ieu, the scribe, in his letter.
I invoke Thee, the Headless One,
the maker of Earth and Heaven,
the maker of night and day;
Thee, the maker of light and darkness.
Thou art Osoronnophris, whom no one has seen at any time.
Thou art Iabas; Thou art Iapos.
Thou hast distinguished between the just and the unjust.
Thou makest female and male.
Thou hast revealed the seeds and the fruit.
Thou makest human beings to love one another and to hate one another.
I am Moses, thy prophet,
unto whom thou didst reveal thy mysteries, the ceremonies of Israel.
Thou hast revealed the moist and the dry, and all kinds of nourishment.
Hear thou me, for I am a messenger of Pharaoh Osoronnophris. This is thy true name, handed down to the prophets of Israel.
Hear me:
ARBATHIAO REIBET ATHELEBERSETH ARA BLATHA ALBEU EBENPHCHI CHITASGOE IBAOTH IAO
Hear me, and drive away this demon.
I call upon thee, the one in the empty void of spirit,
the awe-inspiring and invisible god:
AROGOGOROBRAO SOCHOU MODORIO PHALARCHAO OOO
Holy Headless One, deliver this person from the affliction of this demon.
ROUBRIAO MARIODAM BALBNABAOTH ASSADONAI APHNIAO ITHOLETH ABRASAX AEOOU
Mighty Headless One, deliver this person from the affliction of this demon.
MA BARRAIO IOEL KOTHA ATHOREBALO ABRAOTH
Deliver this person.
AOTH ABAOTH BASUM ISAK SABAOTH IAO
This is the lord of the gods.
This is the lord of the world.
This is he whom the winds fear.
This is he who by the command of his voice has made all things.
O Lord, King, Ruler, Helper, save this soul!
IEOU PYR IOU PYR
IAOT IAEO IOOU
ABRASAX SABRIAM
OO UU EU OO UU
ADONAIE
Now, now, good Angel of God!
ANLALA LAI GAIA APA DIACHANNA CHORUN
I am the Headless Spirit, having sight in my feet.
Strong.
The immortal fire.
I am the truth.
He who hates that injustices come to pass in the world.
I am he who makes the lightning and thunder.
I am he whose sweat is a rainstorm falling upon the earth to impregnate it.
I am he whose mouth is aflame.
I am he who begets and destroys.
I am the grace of the Aeon.
My name is a heart girt with a serpent.
Come and follow me!
Write the names on a new piece of papyrus and extend it from one of your temples to the other. Face North with the names on your forehead, and say:
“Make all spirits subject unto me, so that every spirit of heaven and of the air, upon the earth and under the earth, on dry land and in the water, and every spell and scourge of God as well, shall be subject unto me.”
And all the spirits will be subject unto thee. Behold, the beneficial sign is :>
